At 10 a.m. on August 26, the container ship “Jiaofa Tianlong” loaded with food and chemical products departed from Yichang Baiyang Port and will arrive at Yangluo Port 28 hours later, which marks the maiden voyage of China’s first fast catamaran container ship.
The “Jiaofa Tianlong” freighter is China’s first large-scale fast catamaran container ship, with a full load displacement of 3,400 tons, filling a number of gaps in China’s fast catamaran container ships.
It is understood that China’s catamaran currently only has ordinary passenger ships and cargo ships, and the “Jiaofa Tianlong” ship is China’s first catamaran container ship. The ship is developed and designed by Hubei Tianlong High-speed Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and manufactured by Yichang Xinhui Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.
According to reports, the ship can load 300 TEUs and has a design speed of 27 kilometers. The shallow draft is a major feature of the vessel, which ensures safe navigation in low water basins and during the dry season.
It is understood that the ordinary monohull one hull, the “Jiaofa Tianlong” ship is connected by two hulls side by side, it seems that there are two bows and sterns, in fact, they are connected together, the double streamlined hull makes the resistance small, the speed is fast, from Yichang to Wuhan, the same tonnage ship navigation takes 40 hours, and the “Jiaofa Tianlong” ship only takes 28 hours; From Wuhan to Yichang, the sailing time has also been shortened from 72 hours to 48 hours.
Wuhan and Yichang are both port-based national logistics hub cities, and Wuhan Port and Yichang Port are the two most important ports in Hubei Province. Water transportation is the most convenient passage between the two cities. It turned out that due to various factors, although there was a route from Yichang to Wuhan, it took four or five days to call at Yueyang, Jingzhou and other terminals on the way, and the logistics between the two cities were not smooth. With the integration of Hubei port resources, in July this year, Yichang Port Group was integrated into Hubei Port Group, which provided an “accelerator” for accelerating the economic integration of the two places and promoting the flow of goods between the two ports. Wuhan Port International Container Co., Ltd. opened a direct flight from Yichang to Wuhan on April 23 this year.
The commissioning of the first fast catamaran container ship will play an important role in promoting the construction of Wuhan as a shipping center in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, building a hub port in the central region, consolidating the core position of Yangluo Port in the region, and accelerating the construction of a new development pattern of domestic and international dual circulation.
